At the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering 2019, we’re lucky enough to be exposed to an array of international theatre that we normally wouldn’t have access to, along with a diverse variety of delegates from all around the world who we are able to meet. Kristin Oygarden facilitated an event that brought together Nordic and Baltic artists, allowing for conversation, collaboration, and continued discussions about theatre-making in the future.
I spoke with Anouchka Crahay about the event who said, “I am so happy to be here! I love ASSITEJ. It’s a big platform which has a lot of activities [that] you wouldn’t normally get to find for yourself – activities for your self-development and for your ideas. What’s great is that you, your colleagues, and everyone from around the world meet and have discussions about the problems we face in TYA [Theatre for Young Audiences]. And this Speed Dating? What a great idea! I love Norwegian people, and am exchanging contacts now with companies I want to tour with.”
The event ended with many walking out of the Teateret venue together with new friends and colleagues ready to establish new collaborations. Speed Dating was – most certainly – an incredible networking opportunity at the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering, and I look forward to similar events in the future.
